Try these simple self-help measures from ayurvedic practitioner Jo Webber and herbalist Sebastian Pole, founder of Herbalreality.com to help cleanse your system and support any detox you might be doing:
Massage – this is a key part of ayurvedic cleansing. Give yourself a daily self-massage from head to foot, using 50ml of a warm organic oil such as sesame oil. Leave on for 15 minutes, then wash off in a hot bath or shower.
Aloe vera juice – one of ayurveda’s most potent cleansing and rejuvenating elixirs, aloe vera nourishes, balances the doshas and clears inflammatory heat from the body, while supporting gentle detoxification of the liver. Take one to two tablespoons every morning on an empty stomach.
Triphala – Ayurveda’s famous ‘three fruit’ formula pacifies all doshas, rejuvenates all tissues and cleanses all channels, especially those of elimination. It includes amla, with helps regulate the liver; haritaki, which means ‘remover of disease’ and helps promote the bowel and tone intestinal muscles; and bibhitaki helps maintain healthy mucus membranes. Take one teaspoon at night with warm water to detoxify the bowel.

As soon as I realised I had tools and teachings that could help another woman change her life, I knew this was my purpose. Learning, growing and sharing with other women fills me up, and I get so much joy out of being able to inspire women to create change in their lives. I couldn’t think of anything else I’d rather do.

If you've recently overhauled your wardrobe to be more sustainable, don't forget your sleepwear, too! We often overlook our jim jams as having a planetary impact, but, like with the rest of our clothes, the choices we make at the till can have a knock-on effect.
A brand on our radar at the moment is Wild Clouds. Their collection is made from organic cotton and linen, which is strong, planet-friendly, and super comfy for slipping into at bedtime. These beauties will soften with age, too, so the longer you have them, the more comfortable your PJs will be. And when you're ready to part ways, you won't need to worry about landfil. Every part, from the buttons down to the elastics, is 100 percent natural, sustainable and compostable.

“One way of reducing your consumption of red meat is to use puy lentils in place of beef or lamb mince in a shepherd’s pie or bolognese sauce,” says nutritional therapist Kate Delmar-Morgan (ion.ac.uk). “You can still include all the usual ingredients (think: onions, carrots, tomatoes and mushrooms) but just replace the mince with dried puy lentils and cook them up with the vegetables for around 25-30 minutes. Lentils provide a good source of protein to support energy balance and are full of fibre to benefit the overall health of your gut."

Create everyday mindfulness
|
Follow these four simple steps from Meditopia to turn regular daily activities into mindfulness exercises:
- Choose a daily activity - pick something simple, perhaps a chore like washing up.
- Maintain a beginner’s mind - be conscious of the activity that you’re doing, looking at it with fresh eyes like you’ve never done it before.
- Focus on one’s senses - be aware of every element of what you’re doing. Notice what you see, hear, taste, touch, and smell whilst doing it.
- Practise gratitude - there’s a lot to be grateful for in small moments that we take for granted, not just in unusually wonderful experiences. The real beauty lies in the ordinariness of the everyday world.
